February 6, 2022. I posted the below thoughts on Instagram in response to outrageous statements I was seeing online about Western leaders. I felt context had been lost and the conversation needed a reorientation.
Edit: One week after this, Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau invoked the Emergencies Act, which prohibited certain public gatherings and enabled banks to freeze the accounts of individuals linked to anti-vaccine protests. A federal judge subsequently ruled the use of the Emergencies Act as unreasonable and a violation of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
